DomainsStep-by-step guide

Connect a domain with Pavwell DNS or Cloudflare

Choose managed DNS, external DNS, or Cloudflare and verify the records needed for hosting and business email.

Quick answer

Domain Connections supports Pavwell-managed DNS, an external DNS provider, and a connected Cloudflare account. The correct method depends on who should control nameservers and DNS records.

How to do it

  1. 1

    Open Domain Connections

Open Dashboard → Connections and enter the domain you want to connect.

  2. 2

    Choose the DNS method

Choose Use Pavwell DNS for managed nameservers, Keep my existing DNS for an external provider, or Use my Cloudflare account.

  3. 3

    Verify ownership

Follow the displayed DNS or nameserver instructions and run the ownership check when the records are in place.

  4. 4

    Sync records

After the zone is linked, sync DNS and review A, MX, TXT, CNAME, and nameserver records in the table.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to transfer my domain to Pavwell?

No. You can keep the domain at its registrar and point nameservers or DNS records to the selected setup.

What does changing nameservers do?

Nameservers decide which DNS provider controls the domain. Only change them when you want Pavwell or another provider to manage the zone.

Can I connect a pending purchased domain?

Yes. You can prepare the connection while registration is processing, but public DNS and email delivery wait for activation.

Which connection should I choose?

Use Pavwell DNS when Pavwell should manage nameservers, Cloudflare when your Cloudflare zone should remain authoritative, or existing DNS when another provider must continue managing the records. Do not change nameservers without checking which service should control DNS.
